New Polls Show James Talarico Holding Narrow Lead Over Ken Paxton in Texas Senate Race

Three new polls suggest Texas’s closely watched U.S. Senate race remains competitive, with Democratic state Rep. James Talarico maintaining a narrow lead over Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton.
Polling released Tuesday and Wednesday by the University of Texas’ Texas Politics Project, ReconMR/Siena, and Marist University all showed Talarico ahead among likely voters, though his margin has narrowed in two of the three surveys.
The Texas Politics Project found Talarico leading Paxton 50% to 47%, a three-point advantage consistent with its August polling. ReconMR/Siena put Talarico ahead 48% to 44%, a four-point lead. Marist University reported the closest contest, with Talarico leading 47% to 45%.
We have good reason to be optimistic going into this election, but voter turnout will be critical to ensure Talarico comes out on top.
Early voting in Texas begins Monday, October 19th. Have you made your plan to vote?
